• Created in honor of Eric McLean, the Leukemia Ironman Fundraiser for Eric (L.I.F.E.) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to cancer survivorship by providing assistance to cancer patients in need, scholarship programs, and donating to cancer research laboratories. We will help draw awareness and contribute towards finding more effective treatments, and one day, a cure.

Ali goes to Camp Mak-A-Dream

This past month, L.I.F.E. was contacted by Alyson P., a young woman from Wisconsin battling colon cancer.  Ali was interested in spending some time at Camp Mak-A-Dream in Montana, an 87 acre facility that provides medically-supervised, cost-free Montana experiences, in an intimate community setting, for children, young adults and families affected by cancer.  But she couldn't afford the travel expenses to do so.  Thanks to donations from our many supporters, we were able to send her!  She put together a fun video documenting her trip, and thought we would share it with you!  In her words "I met so many wonderful people here, and made so many friends, and just had so much fun over the past 5 days that I don't want it to end, and I don't want my friends to go home. But the cool thing is that now I have friends all over the country, and Canada."

We're so glad you had a wonderful time Ali!  You're an amazing person!

Athletes wearing orange in tomorrow's Ironman Wisconsin!

Putting the I back in LIFE! Tomorrow is the 13th annual Ironman Wisconsin in Madison, and 23 athletes, including everyone from Blake Becker Multisport Coaching LLC, will be wearing orange to support Eric's mission. Tomorrow, Eric rides with you! For Brian Schley, a close friend from his hometown, this will be his very first Ironman. Old friend Danny Craven has also made the trip up from Austin to compete, and will have Batman mounted on the front his bike! Matt Braaksma is coming off of the overall title at the Door County Half Ironman in July. And Blake Becker, who has been supporting our mission from the very beginning, has raced in every single Ironman Wisconsin each year. As always, he is aiming to win the overall victory, but for the Ironman Wisconsin – due to Ironman taking the professional race away from the event, for now this may unfortunately be his last. So help us wish these athletes luck! You can follow these athletes live tomorrow by clicking here.

Have fun everyone, good luck, and thank you so much for your support!

  • The reason that these years have been the best is that I think that I might have had a somewhat positive impact on your lives and perhaps your understanding of what cancer is and what it can do, to both those of us that it has personally attacked and those of us who know someone who is going through it. -Eric McLean
